Owl heads are so cool.

Captain Quail 83 - ...and Away! (May 13, 2014)

I am sick, and that quite frankly sucks. Colds and flus are one of those things that I feel we should have licked as a species by now, either through medicine or evolution. The metaphysical part of me thinks that sickness and disease is nature's safety valve against us for whenever things get too out of control.

Now I'm being melodramatic.

I do hope that I get over whatever I have real soon, however. This weekend should be an awesome weekend for us and Captain Quail - we will be at Big Wow Comicfest, running booth 1401A. We'll also be giving a panel "Webcomics from Script to Print" on Sunday. We'd love for you to come by and say hello, and let us know what you think of the strip. We'll be giving away free miniprints from the comic, and selling books, tshirts, stickers, and full-size prints.

Speaking of the comic, I'm slightly more excited about this storyline than I was about the last one, but that may be a novelty that wears off. I think we get to play a little more this time, and Allison won't have to draw so many damn rocks.

Some people use sickness as a time to play games, video games especially. That's never really been me. I might play some casual games when I'm feeling ill (read: Hearthstone or Kingdom Rush) but the casual games that I'm playing I've already talked about here. I will say its fascinating to get a look at the meta-gaming that's building around Hearthstone. In many ways it feels like how the early days of Magic the Gathering have been described: No one knows exactly how all the mechanics are going to interact, and new cards often add genuinely new styles of play. If you play, and would like to play against me, let me know. I'm always open to new challenges.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go drink some tea and pass out.

Thanks,

Philip
